Lee Mental Health Center, Inc. operates both Ruth Cooper Center for Behavioral Health Care and VISTA Behavioral Crisis Services. Lee Mental Health has been providing services in Lee County since 1969. In 1993, the Ortiz Avenue campus was named Ruth Cooper Center to honor Dr. Ruth Cooper, for her 20 years of dedicated leadership and service. With this naming, the agency became recognized in the community as the Ruth Cooper Center. The VISTA opened in February 2006 on another campus and the Board of Directors and Senior Management wanted the organization to be recognized in the community as Lee Mental Health Center, Inc. with two campus locations. Ruth Cooper Center is the campus location for administration and community-based services. VISTA is the campus location for acute care and medical services.
