As a nonprofit organization serving
Lee
County
since 1969, Lee Mental Health calls on the passion and generosity of donors to help children, adults, and their families reclaim their lives from mental illness and addiction. Like cancer, diabetes, or heart disease, mental illness and addiction knows no bounds. It reaches across age, race, gender, and socioeconomic status. It reaches into our families, our workplaces, our schools, and our neighborhoods. Research shows that one in five adults will have an encounter with mental illness during their lifetime. Most recent data shows that one in five children have serious behavior problems that interfere with family functioning and school performance. If left untreated, their risk of involvement with the juvenile justice system greatly increases.
Mental illnesses and addictions are treatable! With your support and hope, recovery will be within the reach of more children and adults who turn to Lee Mental Health for help.
Your gift is an important part of our success in meeting the ongoing need for behavioral health care services in
Lee
County
.
Public funding is not keeping pace with the need and, in fact, policies impacting the decline of federal and state funding for mental health, substance abuse, and human service programs is a real challenge for the community. Resources are being reduced at a time when mental health resources, hospital acute care systems, social service agencies, law enforcement agencies, and our legal system are struggling with the population explosion in southwest
Florida
. Lee Mental Health is experiencing a higher-than-ever demand for emergency and inpatient psychiatric treatment for our most vulnerable citizens.
Your donation will help to give children and adults the best treatment opportunities for a successful recovery.
